Do you meet the criteria for travelling to Canada?
The emergency orders issued under the Quarantine Act do not authorize individuals to travel to Canada for optional or discretionary reasons. It is important for you to ensure that you meet the travel exemptions and entry criteria before travelling to Canada.
You are exempt from travel restrictions and can enter Canada if you are travelling for essential, non-discretionary purposes, AND
- you are an international student with a valid study permit, or
- you received the approval for a study permit on or before March 18, 2020.
Visit the Government of Canada site for details regarding international students.
Plan your isolation period
Upon your arrival, you will be required to isolate for 14 days. The Canada Border Services Agency will assess your quarantine plan before you leave the port of entry.
Your plan should specify the following:
- where you will be staying;
- the means you will use to:
- get to your destination;
- get groceries;
- access essential services and medical care.
